Gulab Jamun is one  of my favorite desserts of all. It is an indian dessert. It has syrup in it. It is a popular dessert originated in India, it is also popular in many other countrys like Jamaica, Trinidad, tobago, Guyana, Suriname, Fiji, Mauritius, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. It’s main ingrediet is khoya which is condensed milk solid. It could be served hot cold and room temperature  (I like it warm,the most). It is always served with syrup.  It is mostly brown in color. It is mostly shaped like a sphere. Gulab jamun will always be my one of my favorite deserts.

  

 

This post is about Europe. Europe is one of my favorite continents in the world. Some of the countrys in Europe are Poland, Bulgaria, Greece, Slovakia, Romania, Germany, Czech Reupublic, Denmark, Ukraine and Lithuania. Europe also have some fantastic soccer teams in the world cup like Italy, France, Spain, UK and Portugal. Europe is the second smallest continent in the world in terms of square miles. Europe is one of my favorite continents in the world. One unique thing about Europe is that it is joined to another continent that is Asia. Another thing that is unique about Europe is that many countries got together and formed the European Union. Not all countries are part of it.

Today my mom and I are going to have a debate about having a room of your own or sharing  one.I

Neil’s Purpose: To convince you that having a room of your own is better than sharing one.

Mom’s purpose: To convince Neil that sharing a room is better than to have one all to yourself.

Neil says: I think it is better that you have a room all to yourself because no one can bother you when you’re doing your work.

Mom says: So you and your sibling can learn to compromise.

Neil says: I think it is better to have a room all to yourself because at night your sibling might snore and interfere your sleep.

Mom says:I think you should share a room because It helps you build a bond with your sibling.

Neil says: Another thing that I think that you should have your own room is if you don’t want to let your sibling use something you can lock up your room.

Moms says: It helps you learn to share with your sibling.

Neil says: Did I convince you?

Mom says: No.

Mom says: Did I convince you?

Neil says: No.

This post is about the World Cup! The World Cup is one of the biggest events in the world. I like the World Cup. The World Cup is when almost all the countries in the World play against each other and the team that wins the most games will win the World Cup. The World Cup in 2014 Germany won. The World Cup in 2010 Spain  won. I love soccer. Soccer is my favorite sport ever. The next World Cup will be held in Russia. My favorite team in the World Cup is America and Argentina.

This post is about Julius  Caesar. Julius Caesar was born in 100 BC. Julius Caesar was a very powerful man. He took over many countries. His full name was Gaius Julius Caesar. Julius Caesar was so famous that they named the fifth month of the Roman calendar, Quintilus, July after him! One thing that made him famous besides all that war was that he created the Julian calendar. The Julian calendar had 365 days and every 4th year was a leap year.  We do not use the Julian calendar today. Today we use the Gregorian calendar (made by Pope Gregory the XIII).  Julius Caesar was the first person to get his face printed on a Roman coin. 

Julius Caesar was a great leader in war. He crossed the English channel twice. He extended the Roman Empire a lot.  Julius Caesar was the leader of all the Roman legions and had lots of success winning wars all over Europe and some parts of Africa. The senators got scared that Julius Caesar would take over Rome so they told him to  leave the legions and come back to Rome. But Julius Caesar did not want to, so he crossed the Rubicon with his army (which was illegal) and said “Alea iacta est”, which means “The die has been cast”.  And he said these words because he did not know if he was going to win the war that he knew he was going to start.

At the end of that war he won and Rome pretty much belonged to him. One thing that made him popular to the common people was that he said if you lived in a  country that Rome took over, you do not have to pay taxes to Rome. But the senators did not like that because he was taking away their money and power.  In 44 BC Julius Caesar was killed.  A group of 60 senators plotted to kill him.  He said that if he died that Octavius would take his place. Also if some thing happens to both Julius Caesar and Octavius then Brutus would take his place. But Brutus was one of the people trying to kill him. His famous last words were “Et tu, Brute?” Which means “You too, Brutus?”

 

 I think that Google cardboard is the most important invention of 2015. This post is about Google Card Board. Google cardboard is VR (Virtual reality). You can use VR to play fun games like drive a car ( It is very hard) and down load other games. The most fun thing to do, in my opinion, is going to new places like London, or go diving in the Great Barrier Reef, or even go into outer space! If you put a smart phone or Android phone in a piece of cardboard and down load an app, following simple instructions ,you can do amazing thing with Google cardboard. I like Google cardboard because it is cheap so most people will be able to afford it.  I also like Google cardboard because it is made out of simple materials like cardboard and foam. And if you want you can assemble it on your own with some instructions on the web (you have to buy a kit). I think Google cardboard is the most important invention of 2015 because lost of people can use it.

The Nile River is the longest river in the world (it is 4,258 miles long). It is in north east Africa. Did you know that the Nile has two different tributaries, the Blue Nile and the White Nile? The Ancient Egyptian civilization grew around the Nile River.  Herodotus wrote that Egypt is the gift of the Nile. The sun god Ra rose on the east  and set on the west side of the river. So the ancient Egyptians thought that the East was the side of birth and growth and the West was the side of death. They thought that after death the river Nile carried people into the after life. All ancient tombs were on the West of the river.

The Nile has so much water that 11 different country’s share some of it’s water.  The Nile empties in the Mediterranean  Sea.  Did you know that in southern Egypt there was a big dam to control the flow of the Nile, it was called the Aswan dam. Only 22% of the Nile river goes through Egypt. Brazilians and Egyptians argue on which river is bigger the Nile River or the Amazon River. Right now the Amazon River is the world seconds largest River at 4,000 miles.  Some of the animals that live in the Nile are

1. The Nile crocodile’s and other reptiles like the monitor lizards.

2. Birds that like the water.

3. Over 100 different types of fish.

4. Hippopotamuses.

This post is about the Silversword Plant. In the Hawaiian language it is called “AhinaAhina”.  This means “Very Gray”. There is no word for “Silver” in the Hawaiian language.  The Silversword Plant is a very rare plant. It is only found at the top of Mt. Haleakala in Maui and Mauna Kea on the Big Island.  That is the only place in the world where it is found. The Silversword Plant is endangered because of all the animals that eat it. The Silversword plant makes a tall skinny bush of maroon ray flowers. The Silverswords life span is 3 to 90 years or more. People are not allowed to go close to the Silversword plant because they could break the roots.  Goats and cattle are not allowed to go eat the Silversword plant so people put fencing around so they can not destroy the Silversword plant.
